A Vision Christian College Resource Centre operates as a local church or community based Bible college.
Students of a Resource Centre differ in two aspects from Distance education students. Firstly in that they have access to lecture style studies that are determined by the local ministry. These lectures may be in the form of weekly evening lectures or on a once a month weekend seminar style of ministry. Secondly they differ in that the subjects undertaken are selected by the Resource Centre from the Vision curriculum. Students have little control over the subjects undertaken. This is an ideal option for a church or ministry that wants to train and develop its memberts for the purpose of the local ministry and ministry to the wider community. All students at a Resource Centres are considered Distance Learning students of the Vision Christian College as well as students of the local college.
There are three kinds of students. Full Student receives their text book and assignments and their records are maintained in the Student Data base and they will earn credits towards and award. Typically such a student will complete a subject each month and earn an award each year. Casual Student receives their text book and assignments and their records are maintained in the Student Data base and they will earn credits towards there award. They may complete such subjects as they wish to. It will take much longer to complete an award but recognition is given to their studies. They must complete at least 1 subject each 2 years to maintain their enrolment. Audit Student receives only a text book. No credits are granted as they do not complete assessments. Students may matriculate coursework and transfer existing credits from another college into Vision Christian College for purposes of earning an award. The student will be required to complete an Academic Transfer Form. Students may also claim Life (ministry) Skills towards there awards. The student will be required to complete a Life Skills Application Form. Administration of Courses Resource Centres administer courses for the students, they are responsible for organising the lecturing, supplementing the learning process, providing support and mentor for the students. Ordering Subjects The Resource Centre selects the subjects to meet its own criteria from the range of subjects at Vision Christian College. There are over 100 subjects and are separated into study streams, these are listed at the back of this book. Using the Registration/Subject Form supplied the Resource Centre will order their next subject at least 2 weeks prior to the commencement of the subject. This lead time is required to ensure that the material will be available to the Resource Centre in time. It is the responsibility of the Resource Centre to confirm with Vision Christian College that the order has been received. The number of students, their names and their student status as a student is required which will be checked against the data base to confirm student details and valid enrolment. Submitting Assessments Typically students will undertake 1 subject per month. The assessments are usually in the form of multiple choice assessments and are open book style We encourage students to begin their assessment at home and at the end of the month all assessments should be returned to the Resource Centre. To protect assessments from loss in transit the Resource Centre should photocopy the assessment sheets and post them to Vision Christian College for assessment in bulk with an Assessment Cover Sheet. The Assessment Cover sheet is used to confirm the number of assessments sent and the names of the students. Alternatively the results can be faxed to 02 98291420 or they can be emailed to

Assessment Cover Sheet. Upon receipt the assessments will be registered and marked, details are entered into the data base and the students’ record is updated. Vision Christian College treats assessments as a high priority Upon the successful completion of 30 credit points by the students Vision Christian College will advise the Resource Centre of those students who will graduate and who will need to re-enrol to continue their studies to the next level. Course Cycles Most Resource Centre’s offer ten courses per year in a monthly seminar format. Courses are typically offered in a rotating cycle of 40 subjects and a student may start studies at any point in the cycle. Typically students start in the beginning of the year, but with a Resource Center students can begin at any point in the year with the approval of the Resource Centre management, as Vision Christian College maintains and tracks the students records. In the diagram below, Student “A” may start with the seventh course offered by the Resource Centre in a given year. The student will continue through the 40 course cycle, typically spanning a period of four years, until he or she has completed all subjects of the required curriculum (Certificate in Biblical Studies to Diploma of Theology). Student “B” may start several months after Student “A”, but will continue through the coursework until all subjects have been completed. When Student “A” has completed all required subjects, Student “B” will still need to complete the subjects that Student “A” completed at the beginning of his or her studies. The differences in completion dates will correlate between the differences in starting dates. Resource Centre’s have found this process to be effective and manageable, flexibly offering a rolling admission cycle. |
